Would you mail private information on the back of a post card? Of course not - it could be read by anyone. The same is true of normal e-mail messages sent from your web site without 2COOLWEB’s new Secure Forms option.

Secure Forms combine the encryption of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates and PGP public/private key pairs to secure your information from prying eyes on the Internet. While many web hosts provide SSL encryption, 2COOLWEB is one of the first to offer the protection of PGP encryption to its clients at an affordable cost.

When a visitor enters private information into an HTML form on your web, the information is encrypted between his browser and your form by SSL. As soon as the form is completed and submitted, the information from the form is encrypted using your public PGP key and immediately e-mailed to you.

When you receive the encrypted e-mail message, you simply use your PGP private key to decrypt and read the information. 

An option allows you to receive the form information in a delimited format that can be easily imported into a spreadsheet, database or many other programs.

To use Secure Forms, you will need 2COOLWEB’s NT Secure Hosting Plan with the option for Secure Forms. There is a one-time setup charge to add Secure Forms to your domain.

Once the Secure Forms option is activated on your domain and you have registered your PGP public key and form setup information, you can convert almost any existing HTML form that e-mails the form results into a Secure Form. It is also simple to create new Secure Forms using HTML editors such as Microsoft FrontPage 2000. You may have any number of Secure Forms in your domain and each form’s encrypted e-mail can be configured individually.

Instructions and support for using Secure Forms with StoreFront 2000 E-Commerce software will be available soon. Other existing forms, which submit the information to a database or other program for processing, may require additional programming and customization to use Secure Forms.
